Well, here they are!  These are the prototype labels for my upcoming Happy Bunny Candy Shoppe.  Each handcrafted piece or sets will have this trademark.  I'm hoping to open up shop this fall....
Once I get all my ducks in a row, orders/requests can be placed
By the way, all proceeds will go to the World Wildlife Fund to help save the Sea Turtle.

ciao for now!

Taking a moment...

Midori sode to Fuafua
A lot has happened this week.  There were enough highs and lows to champion the best rollercoaster you can find and enough for me to take a moment and reflect on just how blessed I am.

Over the course of this week, 3 of my patients whom I've come to know well over the last 3 years have closed there eyes and moved on.  Granted I knew that they have ongoing health concerns, but they were just going about their lives and I just saw them a week ago.  And then, one after the other they left.

My boxing suffered this week.  My heart just wasn't in it.  Neither was my trainer's.  He lost a close family friend that morning.  She was on her way to work and passed away from a heart attack she sustained after being hit by another car.

These are stark reminders of just how short life can be.  But in that same week, Richie turned 2, Carolyn and Tray celebrated their 6th anniversary, and I had the best Saturday with Claudette.  Furthermore, I have many, many wonderful things to look forward to.

One of them being my artwork.  I never know what's coming next.  Midori sode translates to green sleeves.  She is symbolic of Spring, a new beginning (I threw in the duck for good measure).  Each day is a blessing and another opportunity to savor Life.

Say what you mean and mean what you say.  Love like you mean it and laugh from the heart.

Peace and love,
Mary xoxo

When things get rough...

vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting
TGIF!!!
We all have good days and then we have some bad days.  In reality, I don't reach for a cupcake.  I constantly remind myself and my patients to eat sweets in moderation.  We have to stay healthy! (But, I'll admit, I find it hard to resist a vegan cupcake or scone from time to time...)
So, instead of going on a sugar trip, I do something:
1. Glove up and go boxing
2. Go for a walk
3. Work on my art
4. Listen to music
5. Practice the flute, guitar or piano

Treat yourself well and stay healthy!
Peace and love,
Mary xoxo

Music hurts....sometimes

Yuki no Sakura
Cherry Blossom in the snow
I had to take a break from my guitar...Firework isn't sounding so fireworky?  More like a wet firework that won't ignite at the moment.  So, instead of getting frustrated I gave my poor left hand a rest(fingertips are burning, tendons are on strike from barre chords...curse you small hands!) and did a quick doodle. This is the end result. (good thing I'm not a lefty...)
I've been getting reacquainted with my alter Japanese ego.  Say "moshi moshi" to Yuki and her kitty.  She looks kind of sad, doesn't she?  I guess my feelings came through on my sketch.  But I am NOT going to give up.
I'm going to go ice my fingers now and tomorrow will be another opportunity to rock out. but for now, oyasumi nasai and sweet dreams!

Mary xoxo

Disclaimer: The undertaking of practicing the guitar today for 45 minutes straight was done of my own free will.  No serious injuries or damages were sustained and my senseii had NOTHING to do with it. That is all.

Carrots + Cake = Happy Bunny

Eat your carrots, they're good for you! Then you can have a cupcake :)
Did I mention that I adore bright colors? This bunny doesn't leave behind colorful eggs.  She leaves cupcakes!
Have a great weekend!

Music therapy

"Moonshine" painting on Sumo Paint
"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Art is my biggest outlet.  But Music is never far behind.  When things get rough and are spinning out of control, I take a moment.  Actually, several moments; enough for the duration of my "go-to" song, Moonshine.  This song was written by my music teacher and it's musical valium to me.  It is six minutes and thirty nine seconds of pure serenity.  I get six minutes and thirty nine seconds to reboot and regain my perspective.  Then I can face whatever lies ahead.  You want to see what I mean? Go and click on Sal's Music and find out. You can thank me later :)

I've also done a previous piece based on this song:

The beauty of art and music...there is no right or wrong.  It means what it means, to you.

NOT COOL!

Hey everyone, got some bad news...
Please read this:
http://honeyjumble.blogspot.com/2011/07/ripped-off.html

A fellow artist's work has been plagiarized!  Taking credit for someone else's work shows total lack of creativity and respect.  I believe in karma. So what goes around, comes around.
Always stay true to yourself.
Namaste,
Mary xoxo

Just because...

Sea Turtle on Sumo Paint
It was bound to happen.  My positive streak ended abruptly today and I had a bad day at work.  But that's ok.  Just because things didn't go as planned doesn't mean it's the end of the world.  So, to take out my frustrations, I went to the gym.  Then I painted this on Sumo Paint while coasting on my endorphin high.  Life is good!  Sumo Paint rocks!

Having a great day!

digital art created on Sumo Paint

I hope that everybody is enjoying their weekend.  Things are just ducky here! I started my day off with the world's most delicious vegan oatmeal scone and a cup of coffee.  Then I put on my fave CD (Listening to Moonshine and Firefly on repeat...you know who you are!) and worked on my art.
I'm off for an afternoon stroll (gotta keep in shape). Ciao for now
love always,
Mary

Sweet Sunday Morsel!

Wow, is it already Sunday?!  Time really flies.

Lemon chiffon cake
I absolutely adore bright colors and PLAID!  I don't necessarily wear it, but I love drawing it.  This is another little piece from the original bakery piece, which will be posted at a later date.  Enjoy the remainder of your weekend.

An apple a day...

Aww, love!
Apples.  A mythical golden one led to a face that launched a thousand ships.  A red one poisoned Snow White.  A rotten apple spoils the whole barrel.  On the contrary, an apple a day keeps the doctor away.  They can even be a statement of endearment. And...
they are my favorite fruit to draw and to eat :) Have a great week everybody!

Your first Sweet Sunday Morsel....

Digital image Paint and Piknik
Creativity ebbs and flows.  Even my muse needs a day off now and again.  So, when my muse is off for the day, instead of working on a piece, I doodle. A LOT.  Here's another one from the bakery:

And so it begins....

Little Orange Bundt Cake
Digital editing on Piknik

I am excited for several reasons
1. It's Friday
2. I took the day off from work
3.It's a LONG weekend
4. Happy Bunny artwork is here!

Anything and everything can happen in this whimsical world, it's only limited by the imagination of its creator.  I hope you enjoy each piece as much as I did creating them.  If you have any ideas/suggestions/requests, feel free to email or post a comment.

My artwork will eventually be made available via the etsy shop.  I will keep you posted.

This little cake is actually part of a much larger sketch.  The original piece will be posted sometime later.  Keep checking in for more new posts! Have a wonderful, safe and healthy July 4th xoxo
