How do you like them apples?

Hi there!  The weeks are just flying by aren't they?  Well, I would like to think I have the ability to stop time :)  But, immersing myself into my creations works just as well.
We have another amazing challenge this week over at Wicked Wednesday.  The theme is Fairy Tales and I got to work with Snow White designed by Krista, owner of Saturated Canary.

If eating an apple can help me find my prince charming, then hek! GImmee one of those babies!
Make sure you stop by check out the rest of the DT's awesome designs.  Have a great week!
Snow White's going over to visit ATCs with Attitude, see you later :)
Peace and love,

Clean and Simple

It's been a "berry" productive evening!  Let's take a stroll through Friendship's Garden.  This week we need to make something clean and simple.

Strawberries make me think of summer!
Thanks for stopping by!

Santa Baby...

OK, is it just me or does anyone else feel like time is just flying right on by?  Well, it's time for another awesome challenge over at Dilly Beans! This week's theme is: Santa Baby.  I've been humming this song all day, trying to draw my source of inspiration from its lyrics...then my "aha" moment came.

"Santa baby, an out-of-space convertible too, light blue
I'll wait up for you dear
Santa baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight!"
Happy Bunny wants a light blue convertible this year, hee hee.
Ingredients:
My own Happy Bunny Santa Baby and Xmas list doodles
(ink and pencil)
Bazzill cardstock in Grenadine
Origami squares
Ribbon
Buttons, snowflakes and letters by Recollections
Presents by Sandylion
I'm also entering this chunky page at Fat pages with attitude.

Merry Christmas everyone and a happy and healthy new year!
Peace and love,
Mary xoxo

'Tis the season for cupcakes!

Hi there!

I have been having so much fun with challenges I decided to enter another one.  Jenn, who hosts Wicked Wednesday, is also part of the design team over at Just some lines.  This is going to be my first submission to this blog.  This week's challenge is tic tac toe.  They have this really cool 3 x 3 board and you have to match three in a row like you usually do for the game.  In each box is an "ingredient" you have to use for your creation.

I chose glitter, flowers and brads.  I made an ATC for it.  Check it out:

Ingredients:
ATC 2.5 x 3.5 card
Bazzil cardstock in Grenadine
Sharpies
Bear cupcake digi from Stretch and Bubbles
Flower brads
Glazing medium
glitter
This is also the first time I used a digistamp.  I won this adorable lil dude over at StretchNBubbles (thank you Pauline!)  I colored it with my Sharpies.  I cut a 2 x 3 piece of Bazzil cardstock and mounted it onto my blank ATC.  I drew the candy cane border and added dot accents with my trusty Sharpies.  I had these cook flower brads for way back when that I never used.  I brushed some glazing medium to them and sprinkled it with pixie dust.  Doesn't he look good enough to eat?

Thanks for stopping by!
Peace and love,
Mary xoxo

Feeling Blue

Why, oh why?!
Actually, I'm fine you guys.  I've just been focusing on learning a certain musical style.  You guessed it, the Blues.  I've heard it a million times over from Muddy Waters, Sonny Boy and BB King.  But it's just recently I've gained a new perspective and greater appreciation for this style.
By the way, I definitely recommend that you check out Hugh Laurie's debut album.  He's quite the blues man. Talented actor AND musician.
Anyway, have a great weekend.  I'm off to continue my quest for musical perfection....and world domination, whichever comes first ;)
Oh, be on the look out for a post on my recent commission, coming soon!

Peace and love,
Mary xoxo

French food on the go...

A speeding snail?
Wow, here's a creature of contradictions for you.  I was totally having fun with my Sharpies collection.  I was in a very silly mood.  The lettering in this doodle is somewhat off because.....
I did this whole piece with my left hand.  Yes.  It took a while, but I found that I can also doodle with my left hand.
However, I think I'll stick with my right hand for now...it's more time efficient.

Live a colorful, creative life!

First day of Autumn....

I'm nuts about you!
It's the first day of Autumn, my most favorite season!  I love how the leaves turn colors and make the trees look like lit torches.  I love the season's palette: reds, oranges, yellows, bronze and gold.

Have a great weekend!
love and peace,

A new recipe...

Help!

There was a sale on Sharpies at my art store.  Buy one, get one 50% off.  How could I resist?  So here's my Sharpie composition.

It seems that the chicken is a bit undercooked....
eh, what do I know? I'll stick with my veggies.

My inspiration for this: my guitar instructor makes chicken noises sometimes....

Not your everyday apple...

Crab Apple painting
Hope everyone's enjoying their Labor Day weekend!
I unfortunately have not been feeling well.  No worries, nothing like a little music and art therapy to keep my spirits up.
I've been playing with my gouache set again.  I haven't quite figured out the blending effects of this medium yet.  I like how the apple turned out.  I was hoping to achieve a more tonal effect with the crab but ended up with red matte.  No matter, we're going to keep trying.

Be good, be well
Peace and love,

Sweet Sunday Morsel

I've been watching too much NatGeo and Discovery Channel.  You combine that with a silly mood and this is the end result.
I'm continuing to work outside my comfort zone.  I bought a set of gouache (pronounced gwash).  They are a more vibrant, opaque form of watercolor.  I'm going to have to continue experimenting and see what happens.

Gouache, ink, pencil.

Sweet Sunday Morsel

Juicy Pear Jelly Bean Tree

I just absolutely L-O-V-E Sundays (when I'm not working, that is).  It's the day when all the stress of the previous week is cleared and I look forward to starting the new week.  Just give me some good coffee and I am content with my art.

This is a detailed look at the Juicy Pear Jelly Bean tree from Jelly Bean fields.  We're going to visit that wonderful place next week, so stay tuned!

Be happy, be well.

Having a great day!

digital art created on Sumo Paint

I hope that everybody is enjoying their weekend.  Things are just ducky here! I started my day off with the world's most delicious vegan oatmeal scone and a cup of coffee.  Then I put on my fave CD (Listening to Moonshine and Firefly on repeat...you know who you are!) and worked on my art.
I'm off for an afternoon stroll (gotta keep in shape). Ciao for now
love always,
Mary

And so it begins....

Little Orange Bundt Cake
Digital editing on Piknik

I am excited for several reasons
1. It's Friday
2. I took the day off from work
3.It's a LONG weekend
4. Happy Bunny artwork is here!

Anything and everything can happen in this whimsical world, it's only limited by the imagination of its creator.  I hope you enjoy each piece as much as I did creating them.  If you have any ideas/suggestions/requests, feel free to email or post a comment.

My artwork will eventually be made available via the etsy shop.  I will keep you posted.

This little cake is actually part of a much larger sketch.  The original piece will be posted sometime later.  Keep checking in for more new posts! Have a wonderful, safe and healthy July 4th xoxo
